Automobile AC compressor is one of the most important components in automobile air conditioning system. It is responsible for pressurizing the AC system and keeping the refrigerant flowing to make it operate normally. Since it runs in a continuous on and off cycle, it wears out every time the AC power is turned on. Just like any other component on the vehicle, it will eventually fail and need to be replaced.
Usually, when the compressor starts to malfunction, it will generate some warning signals to warn the driver that there is a problem. The compressor is responsible for the pressurization and distribution of refrigerant, so if there is any problem with the compressor, it will affect the rest of the AC system.
1. The cabin temperature is higher than normal
The first sign that the compressor may be malfunctioning is that the AC power is no longer as cold as before. A malfunctioning or damaged compressor will not be able to properly adjust the refrigerant flow in the AC system, and as a result, the AC will not operate normally.
2. The sound is loud when the compressor is running
Loud noise when AC power is turned on is another potential symptom of car AC compressor failure. Like other accessories driven by the engine belt, AC compressors have multiple internal components and use sealed bearings to rotate. If any internal components are damaged, or the internal bearings of the compressor malfunction or become stuck, various noises may be generated. Bearing leakage or wear will produce harsh screams or friction, while stuck or stuck bearings will produce friction or belt noise. Due to the complexity and nature of compressor assembly, it is usually easiest to replace the entire compressor rather than perform repairs.
3. The compressor clutch does not work
Another sign of compressor problems is that the clutch is not moving. The clutch on the compressor allows the pulley to engage and disengage the engine power, so the compressor only rotates when needed. The clutch will get stuck and the compressor will be permanently started; otherwise, it may be damaged, which means the compressor will not be able to obtain engine power. Sometimes the clutch itself can be replaced, but usually replacing the entire compressor is the most effective maintenance method.
The AC compressor is the core of the AC system. If you suspect that there is a problem with the automotive AC compressor or other components of the vehicle's AC system, please consider having a professional technician diagnose the system. If necessary, they can also replace the AC compressor for you.
